Latest Updates from Our Project:

We have everything, and soon you will too!
over 8 years ago – Wed, Jul 13, 2016 at 04:48:14 PM

As of this morning, the last things were delivered. In the next week or so we will begin shipping.

Essentially that is the gist of today's update. If you stop reading here you will miss nothing important.

This morning the Bonus Boxes turned up. That's all the extra material including two games, some ideas on how to get even more out of the cards, and something about where the ideas came from. It all looks good and you will also all have it in pdf soon

Last Friday the wooden boxes turned up. We didn't send an update then because we were rather busy - Ste's been forced to move house again (more on that when we explain everything that went wrong in detail later), and that was the day everything was happening. One stroke of luck there though - the agents were running late and didn't have the keys when they said they would. If they had done so then we would have been out when the palette full of boxes turned up! I'm afraid I didn't get a photo of the whole pile because seven hundred other things were happening over the weekend, but it was big enough to completely block the TV in our living room - I would estimate somewhere between 2 and 3 cubic meters. The house still smells of a wood working shop! The boxes are not exactly what we envisaged, due to a miscommunication with the manufacturer they open on a different side, but they are functional, sturdy and decorative. And on the bright side the way they now open makes them significantly more rainproof than they would otherwise be.

The text says "Who Needs A Campaign Setting Anyway?" - it's only difficult to read because I messed up the lighting.

The only reason we can't start postage tomorrow is that the final details need to be recalculated. The box filled with everything comes to 1985g, and with packaging that will come to over two kilos, which is a threshold for postage. Ah well, the box is nice and sturdy and everything in it is great, so a bit more on postage is a necessity I guess! We estimate that should take no more than a week and we may even be able to get some in the post by Monday. We will, of course, update you once it is sorted.

But enough waffling, what we need is a pretty picture of the goods!

CARDS!!!
over 8 years ago – Tue, Jun 07, 2016 at 11:18:04 PM

One bright sunny morning there was a knock at the door. Not really expecting anything I answered the door looking a bit confused. The man outside said "I've got a package for Loz Hensel"

"Yes that's me", I said, not entirely awake and confused as to why he wasn't carrying anything.

"I'll go and get it then" he said. And he disappeared into a large truck, only to return a few minutes later with a palette full of boxes of cards!

Fortunately it was, as I said, a lovely bright sunny morning so the fact it didn't fit through the door was not a huge problem - it just meant it had to be unloaded into the hallway.

We are now just waiting on the last few bits and pieces, not least The Box, to be delivered and then we can start the packing process in earnest

I hope this doesn't take too much longer - they're blocking the hallway!

Okay, maybe the hallway's not totally blocked!

Thanks to a new process from our printers, the cards inside the box come celophane wrapped - this applies to all four new decks, and the reprints of the three Locations decks we've had made

T-Shirts
over 8 years ago – Wed, Apr 06, 2016 at 07:34:31 AM

We said we would do these and never got around to it. They got pushed to the bottom of the list as we tried to get everything written. My previous attempts were not great and the ideas I had in my head didn't work in practice.

When we did remember them, Ali solved the problem with something that works very well and really shows off the cards and the artwork.I'll let her explain.

Start by picking a colour. Sky blue pink with yellow polka dots isn't an option our printer offers, so please use the colours on Backer Kit. Usual sort of range – black, white, grey, blue, red. Oh and apparently purple is important. Don't ask me why.

For the front left, you get to pick your favourite set of Marcos' suit symbols – Characters, Urban Locations, Rural Location or Plots. We'll add in Monsters and Treasures - these will be about an inch (2.5cm) high each

Then on the back, choose your favourite card. Are you the Morning After The Fight? Perhaps you're the Yellow Bellied Saloon? Do you play the God of Fertility? You could even have one of the artwork cards from the Locations decks.

You can now add a t-shirt t your order on Backer Kit, and the option will remain open (along with everything else) until the cards go to print, (which will hopefully be in the next couple of weeks - we'll update you on that in the next few days). You will have options for symbols, and colour of shirt. Please message us stating which card you want on the back. They are £16, plus another £1-2 towards postage if you are outside the UK. We will include them in the same parcels in which the the cards are being sent.

All the sets of suit symbols can be seen on examples of cards in this update. The two artwork cards look like this

Last week at a convention (The Student National Roleplaying and Wargames Championships) we spoke to the person who will do the printing for us - he'd printed all the t-shirts for the event, so we know he can produce good quality products. Here is a pair of pictures of the finished t-shirt, a good quality 100% cotton t-shirt. It looks far more shapeless here than it is because it's over the back of a chair rather than on a person, and I promise the real things won't be slightly out of focus! Ste went for the rural symbols and rural art card on a black t-shirt. I think I'm going for the Creature symbols and the Animated Training Dummy on blue, but I've changed my mind several times already!

Holidays are Coming
almost 9 years ago – Tue, Dec 15, 2015 at 03:20:08 PM

In our last update, on Halloween, we gave you a look at the complete-barring-final-proofreading Creature Cards deck. We're still working hard on the others, however schedules have continued to slip leaving us in an awkward situation: we won't have the full set of digital decks out for Christmas, and New Years Eve is looking like a push.

Part of the problem is that while we are willing to work through the holidays, we need proofreaders to go over the decks before we're happy to send them out, and most of those proofreaders have other engagements.

Still, I fully expect to have one more deck out for you guys to unwrap on Christmas day, the Epic Creatures deck.

In the mean time, here's a festive card for your enjoyment:

Damn that Secret Santa

Hmmm, it's an ace. Best see what's in the box then:

Aww, the villain does have a softer side... or did, once.

Talk to you next week, and Be Well

When September Ends
about 9 years ago – Thu, Oct 01, 2015 at 05:51:11 PM

We're now at the start of October, and we haven't caught up on our schedules. We're barely managing to keep to our originally planned work rate.

I'd rather not have to say this, but we're going to be late on the digital decks, possibly a whole month late, and we may well be late on the physical decks too.

On a side note: Those of you who backed to design cards, I'll be messaging each of you again. While we're behind schedule, the decks are closing in on full, so we'll be needing your input soon. Here's hoping that your input can help us exceed our regular high standards. :-)

We may be in the dark for now, but we're moving towards the light. So today I'm putting out two preview cards:

Be Well

-Ste C

PS. We haven't forgotten about T-shirts, we've just put them on the backburner in order to make sure we get the core cards done as close to schedule as possible.
